What is Salvation?
Salvation is a free gift from God that can only be received through forgiveness of sin. The payment for sin is death, but when Jesus died on the cross he paid that debt for everyone. There's nothing we can do to earn salvation, all we have to do is ask.
John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."
Revelation 3:20, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me."
Ephesians 2:8-9, "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast."
The Bible also says in Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, then you will be saved. That's it. If you confess your sins, and believe that Jesus is who he says he is, you have taken your first steps in your walk with God!
